Attended an event this weekend called Art-Tech Experience: Chaos Theory. Part art show and part live performance, these regular events showcase artists that use technology to push their art.
The show was the inspiration for this photo set – digital pictures which I glitched using Notepad++. I didn’t want to wait around to set up a date with a human model, so enjoy these pictures of my cat.
Camera: Nikon D5200
Lens: Nikon DX AF-S Nikkor 18-55mm 1:3.5-5.6
FMedium: Digital
And if you’re curious, here’s one of the color ones:

Interesting experiment Rebeccah. It’s got me thinking about ways I can do this within the camera, perhaps with an old digital camera I don’t mind being a bit customised (I have a few).

Thanks Dan, I’m curious to see what you can rig up using an old digital. I’m sure there’s a way to corrupt the data within the camera or an individual memory card to be able to get glitch effects in-camera, but you definitely need some kind of burner tech to work with. I’m speculating, but similar to what I did in this post, you might be able to mismatch file types and your camera software to get something broken but still usable. Phillip Stearns might be a good resource to check out, he does all sorts of glitch work. https://phillipstearns.wordpress.com/projects/dcp_series/

Thanks for the tips and link Rebeccah, love what Phillip Stearns is doing with old Kodaks. I very much like colour field abstract painting like Mark Rothko and these look like digital interpretations of those.
